Nutrocker !!

S.F.3.D Original Video - Nut Rocker, 1985, 30min.

Here is my review of the 1985 Nutrocker Video...
...and a few screen captures to wet the appetite.

From the video cover: "The year of 2884 A.D., December, a battle broke out between the Mercenary troops and Shutral Forces in the Australian desert. Surrounded by strong electromagnetic active waves, without any hope of reinforcement, the battle was getting furious and also, it was getting dark."

The story opens with two Capybara (portrayed by short hair guinea pigs... damn cute) foraging amongst the wreckage of A.F.S. and other vehicles. Our hero, Robert Bush, sits unconscious in his damaged S.A.F.S. Awakened by a proximity warning, he powers up his suit in time to find cover from an approaching lone Nutrocker.

The Corporal is exhausted from the preceding battle that wiped out the rest of his company. Thirsty, low on battery power, he must start his engine to recharge, risking detection or immobility. Half delirious, he finds himself arguing with his computer and talking to himself. It seems speaking through his every action is the only way he can motivate himself to go on.

The live-action effects and wirework is very well done for the time. The details on the SAFS and Nut are in par with Kow-sensei's other works. The landscape and buildings are superb. I'm figuring the SAFS is the 1/6-scale version, and the Nut must be easily 2-feet long. It's hard to tell, but the sand, dust and fireball explosions suggest a larger scale.

(Note, the distortion at the bottom edge is actually the audio information, visible through my capture card.  This
along with the black line at the right edge, are NOT visible on the DVD as they are hidden by your TV's cabinet.)
